What is SRT to text?
SRT is a subtitle format. Each cue contains a number, a timestamp and one or more lines of dialogue. An SRT to text converter keeps the dialogue and removes the numbers, timestamps and formatting. The result is a plain transcript you can read, search, translate or paste into a document.
How to convert SRT to text
- Paste the SRT content into the box, or upload a
.srtfile. - Press Convert to text.
- Copy the result or download it as a
.txtfile.
SRT vs plain text
SRT is built for video players: it tells the player when to show each line. Plain text is built for reading and editing. If you need subtitles again later, keep the original SRT. If you only need the words, use the text version.
Tips
- Line breaks inside a cue are preserved as separate lines.
- Formatting tags such as
<i>and<b>are removed. - Empty cues and cue numbers are skipped.
- For WebVTT, the same converter removes the
WEBVTTheader and cue settings.
