What is a subtitle converter?
A subtitle converter changes a subtitle file from one format to another without retyping the dialogue. Video editors, streaming platforms and caption tools accept different formats, so a converter saves you from manually rebuilding timestamps and cue numbers.
Supported formats
| Format | Typical use |
|---|---|
| SRT (SubRip) | Most video editors, YouTube uploads, desktop players |
| VTT (WebVTT) | HTML5 video, web players, some streaming tools |
| Plain text | Transcripts, search, translation and copywriting |
How to convert subtitles
- Paste the subtitle content or upload a
.srt/.vttfile. - Choose SRT, VTT or plain text as the output format.
- Press Convert, then copy or download the result.
SRT vs VTT
Both formats store cues with start and end times. SRT uses a comma before milliseconds and a numeric cue index. VTT starts with a WEBVTT header and uses a dot before milliseconds. The dialogue is the same; only the wrapper changes. Converting between them preserves timing.
